How to Hit a Bong Properly

`

If you are new to smoking bongs, you might be wondering how to hit a bong properly. Bongs are popular devices for smoking herb or tobacco, as they allow you to inhale a large amount of smoke in one go, and filter it through water for a smoother experience. However, hitting a bong can also be tricky, especially if you don’t know the right technique or how to avoid coughing. In this blog post, we will show you how to hit a bong like a pro, and give you some tips and tricks to make the most out of your bong session.

What You Need

Before you can hit a bong, you need to have the following items:

  • A bong. There are many types and sizes of bongs, but they all have the same basic parts: a bowl, where you put your herb or tobacco; a downstem, which connects the bowl to the water chamber; a water chamber, where the smoke is filtered through water; and a mouthpiece, where you inhale the smoke from. Some bongs also have extra features, such as percolators, ice catchers, or carb holes, which can enhance your smoking experience.
  • Herb or tobacco. You can use any kind of herb or tobacco that you like, but make sure it is finely ground up for better burning and airflow. You can use your fingers, scissors, or a grinder to break up your herb or tobacco.
  • A lighter. You need a lighter to ignite your herb or tobacco in the bowl. You can use any kind of lighter, but some people prefer hemp wicks, which are organic strings coated with beeswax that burn slowly and evenly.
  • A screen (optional). A screen is a small piece of metal or glass that you can place at the bottom of the bowl to prevent your herb or tobacco from falling through the downstem and into the water. Screens can also help with airflow and reduce ash buildup in your bong.

How to Hit a Bong

Once you have everything ready, follow these steps to hit a bong:

  1. Fill the bong with water. Pour water into the mouthpiece until it covers about an inch of the downstem. You don’t want too much water, as it can splash into your mouth or make it harder to inhale. You also don’t want too little water, as it won’t filter the smoke properly. You can experiment with different water levels to find your preference.
  2. Pack the bowl. Take some of your ground herb or tobacco and place it in the bowl. Don’t pack it too tightly or loosely, as it can affect the airflow and burning. A good rule of thumb is to fill the bowl about halfway or three-quarters full. If you are using a screen, place it at the bottom of the bowl before packing.
  3. Light the bowl while you inhale. Hold the bong with your non-dominant hand and wrap your lips around the mouthpiece. Make sure your lips are inside the opening and create a seal with your mouth. With your dominant hand, hold the lighter near the edge of the bowl and spark it while you gently inhale from the mouthpiece. This will draw the flame into the bowl and ignite your herb or tobacco. As you inhale, you will see smoke rising up from the bowl and filling up the water chamber.
  4. Pull out the downstem and inhale deeply. When you have enough smoke in the water chamber, pull out the downstem (or remove your finger from the carb hole if your bong has one) and inhale sharply from the mouthpiece. This will clear all the smoke from the bong and into your lungs. Hold the smoke in your lungs for a few seconds before exhaling.
  5. Repeat as desired. If there is still some herb or tobacco left in the bowl, you can repeat steps 3 and 4 until it is all gone. If you are smoking with friends, pass the bong to the next person after clearing it.
