What is a Gravity Bong?

`

A gravity bong is a type of homemade bong that uses water and pressure to draw smoke into the lungs. It consists of a two-piece chamber system that nestles together—one larger chamber to hold the water and a second smaller chamber to hold the bowl and capture the smoke. As the herb is lit, gravity pulls herb smoke into the bottle using water in a container to create suction. A gravity bong is also known by various names such as GB, geeb, bucket bong, or waterfall bong.

In this blog post, we will explain how a gravity bong works, how to make one yourself, and what are the pros and cons of using this method of smoking.

How Does a Gravity Bong Work?

A gravity bong works by submerging a small bottle with a bowl of herb on top in a larger bottle or bucket of water. While lighting the herb, slowly draw the bottle out of the water to fill it with smoke from the burning herb. Unscrew the lid, put your mouth over the bottle’s opening, and push the bottle down to let gravity propel the herb smoke into your lungs.

The reason why a gravity bong delivers such a powerful hit is that it forces heavily concentrated smoke into your lungs, filling them to capacity beyond the average hit from a pipe or joint. When you inhale the contents of the smoky bottle into your lungs, you are essentially breathing in the smoke from an entire bowl of herb in one go.

There are two main types of gravity bongs: bucket bongs and waterfall bongs. Both use air pressure and water to draw smoke, but they differ in their construction and operation.

Bucket Bong

A bucket bong is made out of two containers, with the larger, open top container filled with water. The smaller has an attached bowl and open bottom, and the smaller is placed into the larger. Once the bowl is lit, the operator must move the small container up, causing a pressure difference. Smoke slowly fills the small jar until the user removes the bowl and inhales the contents.

The construction of a bucket bong calls for a plastic bottle (about 2 litres), a Hex Bit Socket used as the bowl, an aerator screen cut to fit the bowl, and a large bucket or other container into which both the bottle and a sufficient amount of water will properly go. The plastic bottle’s base is cut off, and the bottle’s cap has a small hole in the center which will eventually hold a bowl. The screen is placed inside of the bowl. The cut nozzle is threaded into the hole outside the cap.

Waterfall Bong

A waterfall bong is made up of only one container. The container must have a bowl and a small hole near the base so the water can drain easily. As the water flows out of the container, air is forced through the bowl and causes the substance to burn and accumulate smoke in the bong.

The construction of a waterfall bong calls for a plastic bottle (about 2 litres), a Hex Bit Socket used as the bowl, an aerator screen cut to fit the bowl, and some water. The plastic bottle’s base has a small hole near it, and the bottle’s cap has a small hole in the center which will eventually hold a bowl. The screen is placed inside of the bowl. The cut nozzle is threaded into the hole outside the cap.

How to Make a Gravity Bong?

Making a gravity bong is a fun, easy DIY project that ensures a fast and efficient delivery of your favorite herb. However, you should be aware of the potential health risks of using plastic bottles and other materials that may release chemicals when heated. Proceed at your own discretion!

Here are the steps to make a gravity bong:

  1. Gather the materials. You will need a plastic bottle (about 2 litres), a Hex Bit Socket, an aerator screen, a bucket or another large container, some water, and some herb.
  2. Cut off the bottom of the bottle. Use scissors or a knife to carefully cut off the base of the bottle. You can also poke a hole near the base and tear off the rest.
  3. Make a hole in the cap. Use a drill, a nail, or a sharp object to make a small hole in the center of the cap. The hole should be big enough to fit the nozzle of the Hex Bit Socket.
  4. Attach the bowl to the cap. Place the aerator screen inside the Hex Bit Socket and thread it through the hole in the cap. Screw the cap onto the bottle.
  5. Fill the bucket with water. Fill the bucket or another large container with enough water to submerge most of the bottle.
  6. Submerge the bottle in water. Place the bottle in the bucket with the cap facing up. Make sure that only the top part of the bottle is above water.
  7. Pack the bowl with herb. Grind some herb and pack it loosely into the bowl. Don’t overfill it or it may fall into the water.
  8. Light the herb and lift the bottle. Use a lighter or a match to ignite the herb and slowly lift the bottle out of the water. Don’t lift it completely or you will lose the smoke.
  9. Remove the cap and inhale. Once the bottle is filled with smoke, unscrew the cap and put your mouth over the opening. Push the bottle down into the water as you inhale to let gravity push the smoke into your lungs.
  10. Enjoy! You have just made and used a gravity bong!

What are the Pros and Cons of Using a Gravity Bong?

A gravity bong is not for everyone. It has some advantages and disadvantages that you should consider before trying it out.
