How to Clean a Bong with Alcohol

A bong is a great way to enjoy your herb or tobacco, but it can also get dirty and smelly over time. Resin, tar, and bacteria can build up inside the bong, affecting the flavor and quality of your smoke. That’s why it’s important to clean your bong regularly and keep it fresh and sparkling.

One of the easiest and most effective ways to clean a bong is using alcohol and coarse salt. Alcohol is a powerful solvent that can dissolve the sticky resin and kill any germs in the bong. Salt acts as an abrasive that can scrub away any stubborn stains and residue. Together, they can make your bong look and smell like new.

In this blog post, we’ll show you how to clean a bong with alcohol in a few simple steps. You’ll need the following items:

  • A dirty bong
  • 91% or 99% isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol)
  • Coarse salt (such as Epsom or rock salt)
  • Two large zipper storage bags
  • Rubber stoppers or bong plugs
  • A towel
  • Water and soap

Step 1: Disassemble the bong

The first step is to take apart your bong and remove any detachable parts, such as the bowl, the stem, and the mouthpiece. Rinse them with water to get rid of any loose debris and ash. If they are too dirty, you can soak them in a bowl of hot water for a few minutes to loosen up the gunk.

Step 2: Fill the bags with alcohol and salt

The next step is to fill two zipper storage bags with alcohol and salt. You can use any type of coarse salt, such as Epsom or rock salt, but avoid table salt as it is too fine and won’t work as well. Pour enough alcohol into the bags to cover the bong parts completely. You can use either 91% or 99% isopropyl alcohol, but the higher the concentration, the better.

Step 3: Put the bong parts in the bags and shake

The third step is to put the bong parts in the bags and seal them tightly. Make sure there are no leaks or holes in the bags. Then, shake them vigorously for a few minutes, or until you see the resin and dirt coming off the bong parts. You can also massage the bags with your fingers to help dislodge any stubborn spots.

Step 4: Rinse and dry the bong parts

The fourth step is to rinse and dry the bong parts. Carefully remove them from the bags and discard the dirty alcohol and salt mixture. Rinse them thoroughly with hot water and soap to remove any traces of alcohol and salt. Then, dry them with a towel or let them air dry on a rack.

Step 5: Clean the bong body

The fifth step is to clean the bong body. Plug the holes of the bong with rubber stoppers or bong plugs to prevent any leaks. Then, pour some alcohol and salt into the bong and swirl it around to coat the inside walls. You can also use a bottle brush or a pipe cleaner to reach any hard-to-clean areas. Let the bong sit for a few minutes, then shake it vigorously until it looks clean.

Step 6: Rinse and dry the bong body

The final step is to rinse and dry the bong body. Remove the plugs from the holes and pour out the dirty alcohol and salt mixture. Rinse the bong well with hot water and soap to remove any residue. Then, dry it with a towel or let it air dry on a rack.

Congratulations! You have successfully cleaned your bong with alcohol!

You can now enjoy your herb or tobacco in a clean and fresh bong. To keep your bong in good condition, we recommend cleaning it at least once a week, or more often if you use it frequently. You can also change the water after every session to prevent bacteria growth and bad odors.
