How to Clean a Bong with Alcohol

A bong is a popular device for smoking herbs or tobacco, but it can also get dirty and smelly over time. Resin, tar, and bacteria can build up inside the bong, affecting the taste and quality of the smoke. That’s why it’s important to clean your bong regularly and keep it fresh and sparkling.

One of the easiest and cheapest ways to clean a bong is to use alcohol and coarse salt. Alcohol is a powerful solvent that can dissolve the sticky resin and kill the germs in your bong. Salt acts as an abrasive that can scrub away the stubborn stains and residue. Together, they can make your bong look and smell like new.

In this blog post, we’ll show you how to clean a bong with alcohol in a few simple steps. You’ll need the following materials:

  • A dirty bong
  • Coarse salt (such as sea salt, Epsom salt, or rock salt)
  • Isopropyl alcohol (91% or 99%)
  • Two large zipper storage bags
  • Rubber stoppers or bong plugs
  • A towel
  • Water and soap

Step 1: Disassemble your bong

The first step is to take apart your bong and remove any detachable parts, such as the bowl, the stem, and the mouthpiece. Rinse them with water to get rid of any loose debris. Then, place them in separate zipper storage bags. Add some coarse salt to each bag, followed by enough alcohol to cover the parts completely. Seal the bags and set them aside.

Step 2: Clean the main chamber

Next, you need to clean the main chamber of your bong. Pour out any old water and rinse it with hot water. Then, add some coarse salt to the chamber, followed by enough alcohol to fill it halfway. Plug the openings of your bong with rubber stoppers or bong plugs to prevent any leaks. Alternatively, you can use your fingers or some plastic wrap and rubber bands.

Step 3: Shake it up

Now comes the fun part. Shake your bong vigorously for about five minutes, or until you see the resin and dirt coming off the walls. You can also swirl it around or tap it gently on a towel-covered surface. Be careful not to drop or break your bong while shaking it.

Step 4: Rinse and repeat

After shaking your bong, unplug the openings and pour out the dirty alcohol-salt mixture. Rinse your bong thoroughly with hot water and soap, making sure there are no traces of alcohol or salt left. If you still see some stains or residue, repeat steps 2 and 3 until your bong is squeaky clean.

Step 5: Clean the other parts

Don’t forget about the other parts of your bong that are soaking in the zipper storage bags. Shake them well for a few minutes, then rinse them with hot water and soap. Use a pipe cleaner or a cotton swab to reach any hard-to-clean spots.

Step 6: Dry and enjoy

The final step is to dry your bong and its parts with a towel or let them air dry completely. Then, reassemble your bong and enjoy a smooth and flavorful smoke from your freshly cleaned piece.
